Is Candy AI free? Free tier, trial and Shorts (2026)

"Is Candy AI free?" has two honest answers, depending on what you came for. If you want to chat with an AI companion, the free account is a short demo. If you want to watch, the free part of Candy Shorts is substantial. Every limit below comes from Candy AI's help center, its terms of service and the live subscription and series pages, checked on October 2, 2026.

What a free Candy AI account includes

Read the first line carefully. The help center doesn't describe five messages a day: it says "up to 5 messages in chat", shared "across all characters". The terms phrase it a little more loosely, saying a free user "may generally send a maximum of 5 messages to AI Characters", and neither source mentions a reset. Five messages are enough to see how a character writes, not to decide whether you like talking to it.

Images are limited too. Free users get one generated image, and the Premium upsell on Candy AI's creator profiles lists "Remove image blur" among its perks, which suggests some images appear blurred on free accounts. Video generation does not appear in the free list at all; the subscriptions page puts "Generate 18+ Videos" under Premium.

Is there a Candy AI free trial?

Candy AI's homepage says "Start slow with the free trial." We looked for that trial on October 2, 2026 and could not find it. The subscriptions page offered three paid plans (12 months, 3 months and 1 month) and no trial plan or trial price to a visitor. The help center doesn't describe a trial either; it describes the free-tier limits above.

So the honest answer to "Candy AI free trial" is that the free account is the trial. We can't verify any other trial offer, so we don't promise one. Be wary of pages selling a "Candy AI free trial code": none of the official pages we read mentions one. The discounts that do exist are printed on the plan cards: 70% off on the annual plan and 35% off on the quarterly one, against a $13.99 list price.

Candy Shorts: the part that really is free

Shorts are where Candy AI is generous. Episodes 1 and 2 of every one of the 123 regular series are free, 246 episodes in total, with no exceptions when we checked on October 2, 2026. On candyshorts.com they play even without an account; on candy.ai the same two episodes show a token cost of zero. Each episode runs under two minutes, so the free pair is enough to tell whether a series is for you.

The free episodes are the real episodes 1 and 2, not trailers. They set up the story and contain no nudity; most regular series reach their adult scenes later, in the paid episodes. The 9 Spicy series are the exception: no free episodes, and invisible until you sign in. Most regular series are short, with 112 of the 123 at five episodes, so two free episodes is a large share of each story. The longest, My bestie betrayed me, runs 34.

What needs Premium

Everything else. Candy AI Premium costs $3.99 a month on the annual plan (billed $47.88), $8.99 a month on the quarterly plan (billed $26.97) or $13.99 month to month, and renews automatically until you cancel. Side by side with the free account:

Shorts are not on that list, but the Shorts membership is the same Premium plan: the candyshorts.com paywall uses the same plan IDs and prices, and the candy.ai paywall's button reads "Upgrade to Premium". With it, episode 3 onward of regular series and the Spicy tier open up, subject to a caveat in the candyshorts.com terms: a subscription includes "a limited number of candyshorts episodes and tokens", with further access for tokens. Inside candy.ai, single episodes can also be unlocked with tokens: 12 each, or 30 on creator series.

Tokens: what is free and what isn't

Tokens are Candy AI's internal credit. The help center says "regular chatting doesn't cost tokens", though free users only get five messages anyway. Tokens pay for image generation, image-to-video conversion, listening to voice messages, beta voice calls (3 tokens a minute on the creator profiles), Private Content packs, creating a custom AI and, inside candy.ai, Shorts episodes. Free accounts get no monthly allowance; Premium adds 100 tokens a month and Premium Plus 330.

Token packs are sold at candy.ai/tokens, which only opens after you sign in, so we could not verify their prices. The one free-token route the help center describes is referrals: you and the person you invite each get 200 tokens, which Candy AI calls "a $20 value". That works out at about 10 cents a token, but treat it as a rough guide, not a price list, and check the referral conditions in your account before counting on it. For scale, 200 tokens would unlock 16 regular Shorts episodes at 12 tokens each, or six creator-series episodes at 30.

Why "free Premium" generators are scams

Search for "Candy AI free" and you will find pages promising free Premium, unlimited tokens, cracked accounts or a "mod APK". None of them can deliver. Premium is a subscription that EverAI bills and attaches to your account on its own servers, and tokens sit in the same account; under the terms they "cannot be transferred" or exchanged for money. Nothing on a website or on your phone can switch either one on.

What those pages can do is take something from you: your Candy AI login, your card number, or permission to install software. There is no official Candy AI app to "mod" in the first place. The help center says Candy AI "does not offer a native mobile app for iOS or Android", and candy.ai/download just redirects to the homepage. Accounts and tokens can't be transferred to someone else either (changing your own email needs support and proof of payment), so a "shared Premium account" is someone else's account, which its owner can take back at any time. Should you stay free or pay?

Stay free if you mainly want to see what Candy Shorts is like: 246 free episodes is a lot of sampling. Pay if you want to chat, because the five-message cap ends a conversation before it starts. If you do pay, the $13.99 monthly plan is the cheapest way to test for a single month, and the annual plan at $47.88 the cheapest way to stay.

Two rules are worth knowing before you enter a card. A refund is only possible within 24 hours of payment, if you have used 20 tokens or fewer, and only for card payments (EU and UK buyers can also withdraw within 14 days of a first purchase).
